- Door and assembly
- Identify a single door, pair or sidelite arrangement. Keep each door-leaf size separate from the overall frame and rough opening.
- Glass and privacy
- Record the selected doorlite or glass reference, desired privacy and any project-specific glazing requirements.
- Frame and preparation
- Coordinate jamb depth and material, casing or brickmold, hinges, threshold finish and lock preparation.
- Exposure and performance
- Share the project location and any required performance criteria. The proposed assembly and its documentation are reviewed for your application.
Make inswing and outswing clear.
Exterior handing is described from outside the building. For single prehung units, the builder shows four diagrams for the hinge side and opening direction.
For paired doors or other layouts, include the active leaf and any additional opening details in the request.

Common exterior-door questions.
Can I request a design that is not in the builder’s standard list?
Yes. Use a manufacturer model or catalogue page to identify it, or choose the custom specification path. DoorCrafters reviews the requested configuration, supply availability and preparation before confirming a quote.
What should I send for a replacement entry?
Provide the project location, photographs, preferred design and exact measurements. Label the door-leaf dimensions, outside frame dimensions and rough opening separately, and describe which existing components you intend to reuse.
Are glass, hardware preparation and the frame included in the quote?
Your written quote identifies the proposed package. Include the glass reference, jamb requirements, hinge finish, threshold and lock preparation so the included components and any remaining choices are clear before approval.
When will my door be ready?
Availability and timing depend on the selected product, preparation and fulfillment arrangements. DoorCrafters confirms the proposed schedule in writing. Purchasing and production begin after the specifications are approved and the agreed payment requirements are met.
